Im overall satisfied at how my collage came out. All of the different comments that people had for me helped to refine it to something im truly proud of. Now about this community stuff..
First, I dont really have much of a view on community because ive never had much of one other than my family. Sure they can qualify as a community by themselves. But when I think of community I think of the word in the literal sense, where your town or city comes together in all those cheesy hollywood movies. Guess that doesnt happen in real life. Ahh well regardless this new topic of discussion should be another interesting period of class.
I feel you on your family being your community. I think Hollywood portrays communities in a way we find "cheesy" mostly because that is what whom ever is creating the film, wishes their community was like. We want that security and unity that a close community can provide, but you are right, real life is not like that. Real life is a lot more unstable and like it or not it doesn't take much to split a community in two...or three..or four. Eeh you get my point.

ReplyDeleteit depends on the community you live. There are lots of communities in Massachusetts where the people and the official are together. I hope when you drive around different cities you have noticed the sign “Crime watch neighborhood” the reason for it, the community and the people are very aware of every little situation, not only that they are they are concerned on protecting their neighbor, kids and the family. It means that the neighborhood has joined the crime watch program put on by their city's police department. Not all neighborhoods belong. It has nothing to do with a crime being committed. I have noticed a lot of these signs. Generally, neighborhoods with the signs are more crime-free than neighborhoods without. Not because of the signs, but because the residents are more aware of what goes on and are more likely to reports suspicious events. Furthermore, they know each other and act together like those cheesy Hollywood movies. You can see this in real life as well. Overall, the meaning of the sign they are keeping their city safe before it happens even some of the neighborhoods with the signs have hidden cameras.
